Payam Sajadi is a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher at UCD's Spatial Dynamics Lab, specializing in Remote Sensing and Big Geospatial Data Science. With a profound commitment to advancing geospatial technologies, Payam focuses on leveraging these tools to address environmental and sustainability challenges. His belief in the transformative potential of remote sensing and GIS drives his work, particularly evident in his role as principal investigator of the RESTORATION Project. This groundbreaking initiative, funded by a generous grant from the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) under the National Challenge Fund, Next Generation EU, “OurTech Challenge” 2023, aims to reinvent Dublin's urban landscape into a model of resilience and water absorption. Through a fusion of advanced remote sensing, geospatial technology, artificial intelligence, and community engagement, Payam and his team strive to showcase the untapped potential of private gardens as natural assets in flood risk mitigation. Their work underscores the efficacy of community-based climate adaptation strategies. Payam's research ethos revolves around the development of nature-based solutions that not only address immediate environmental concerns but also foster sustainable relationships between communities and their surrounding ecosystems. Through RESTORATION and his broader endeavors, Payam aims to demonstrate how innovative technology and community involvement can collaborate to shape a more sustainable and resilient future.
